ARCHIE-WeSt Access

Access to ARCHIE-WeSt should be obtained by connecting to:

  archie-login.hpc.strath.ac.uk

This will re-direct you to one of the four login nodes:

  archie-w.hpc.strath.ac.uk (130.159.17.167)
  archie-e.hpc.strath.ac.uk (130.159.17.168)
  archie-s.hpc.strath.ac.uk (130.159.17.169)
  archie-t.hpc.strath.ac.uk (130.159.17.170)

Terminal access can be obtained via ssh, or a graphical desktop session can be obtained using the NoMachine NX remote desktop client (windows/Linux/Mac).

Terminal Access (ssh)

From Linux/Mac, use the command:

 ssh -X username@archie-login.hpc.strath.ac.uk

(-X is optional and will tunnel X windows back to your desktop)
From Windows, download putty . Click on the images below for instructions on how to use Putty.

Remote Desktop Access (NoMachine NX client)

First download the NoMachine NX remote desktop client (windows/Linux/Mac).

Note:
1. Desktop sessions can be left running after you disconnect. This should be done only if you require graphical programs to be left running. In normal operations, choose “Log out…” from your desktop session or “Terminate” from the NX client.
2. If you are re-connecting to a previous desktop session that you left running, then connect directly to the relevant login node and not the generic archie-login address.
