Magnetic Field Topology Magnetic Field Topology In this project I study the effect of the twisting and linking of magnetic field lines in plasma. This has applications in solar magnetic fields and laboratory plasma, such as in fusion devices. While pure field line knotting and pure field line twisting have been studied before, the dynamic interplay between these two characteristics is part of this study. The model calculations require a large amount of resources for which I make use of the ARCHIE-WeSt facilities. For more information about the project contact Dr Simon Candelaresi (simon.candelaresi@glasgow.ac.uk), Rankin-Sneddon Research Fellow at the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Glasgow.
